Sunday, 31st August 2025 | Round 30, NPL NSW Men’s | Rockdale Ilinden Sports Centre

Rockdale Ilinden and Sydney FC wrapped up their regular season campaigns with a thrilling 2–2 draw at the Rockdale Ilinden Sports Centre, in a contest that delivered goals, drama, and a glimpse of future talent.

A Fast Start

The home side wasted no time making their mark, as Christopher McStay struck in the 6th minute to give Rockdale the early advantage. Sydney FC responded almost instantly, with Marin France calmly finishing just three minutes later to level the score at 1–1.

Undeterred, Rockdale kept pressing forward and found reward again in the 28th minute. Moudi Najjar finished clinically to restore the lead, ensuring the Ilinden went into the break 2–1 up.

Second Half Fightback

With several of Rockdale’s senior stars rested—including Alec Uroševski and Brendan Cholakian—there was added responsibility on younger players to step up. They looked to control the tempo in the second half, but Sydney remained dangerous.

In the 81st minute, substitute Dylan Rose rose highest from a set piece to nod home the equaliser, ensuring both sides finished with a share of the points.

What It Means

While Rockdale will feel they had chances to close out the match, the experience gained by their youth players was invaluable. For Sydney FC, persistence and the impact of their substitutes proved decisive, highlighting the depth within their squad.

Both teams leave the season finale with plenty of positives to build on, and fans were treated to an exciting contest that showcased the very best of NPL NSW football.
