User groups at Peakhurst West Swimming Pool have raised concerns about proposed changes under a new operator appointed by the NSW Department of Education.

The pool, originally built by the community in the 1960s, has recently received a $1.5 million upgrade funded by the state government. However, existing swimming clubs and schools say the new operator’s planned changes to pool depth, access arrangements, and fees may affect their ability to continue operating at the facility and could lead to higher costs for families.

In this episode, we hear from local swimming groups, State MP for Oatley Mark Coure, Georges River Councillor Nancy Liu, and a long-time swimmer.

Banks Federal Member Zhi Soon has raised community users’ concerns with the New South Wales Government. And the state Deputy Premier and Minister for Education Prue Car is scheduled to meet with current pool users later this week to discuss the issues.

Stay tuned for updates.
