Members of the Chinese community, particularly those who do not speak English very well, sometimes fall victim to fraud. For example, someone may call claiming to be from the bank and attempt to obtain their banking details. We have also experienced situations where members of the Chinese community were walking while using their phones with earphones on, not being aware of their surroundings, and as a result were followed, assaulted, or robbed. Therefore, they need to be more vigilant about their surroundings, especially late at night or in poorly lit areas. We always recommend that they be cautious about where they walk, observe what is around them, and make sure to report any suspicious activity to the police.
