HURSTVILLE BUSINESS OWNERS INVITED TO SAFETY FORUM FOLLOWING LOCAL CONCERNS
11 October 2026
Federal Member for Barton Ash Ambihaipahar MP and Georges River
Councillor Ben Wang have visited local businesses across Hurstville to
personally invite traders to attend the upcoming Hurstville Business
Safety Forum.
The forum is being held as a direct result of the small business walk-
through undertaken by Ash Ambihaipahar MP and Councillor Ben
Wang on 21 July earlier this year. During the walk-through, local
business owners raised concerns, including shoplifting, break-ins, staff
safety, and incident reporting, highlighting the need for further action
and collaboration on safety across the Hurstville business precinct.
In direct response to those concerns, the Hurstville Business Safety
Forum will bring together local businesses, St George Police Area
Command, Georges River Councillor Ben Wang, and Federal Member
for Barton, Ash Ambihaipahar MP for a practical discussion on
improving safety across the precinct. Businesses will have the
opportunity to hear directly from police, learn practical crime
prevention strategies, and raise concerns face-to-face with key
stakeholders. Mandarin and Cantonese language support will also be
available.

Quotes attributable to Ash Ambihaipahar MP, Federal Member for
Barton:
"When I met with local businesses in Hurstville, the message was clear.
Business owners wanted practical information about crime prevention,
reporting incidents and keeping their staff safe.
That's why we're bringing local businesses together with St George
Police Area Command and Georges River Council. This forum is about
listening to concerns, sharing practical advice and helping businesses
access the support available to them.
"
Quotes attributable to Ben Wang, Georges River Councillor:
“When Ash Ambihaipahar MP, local businesses, and I met during our
Hurstville business walk, business owners were clear about the safety
challenges they were facing. The Hurstville Business Safety Forum is a
direct response to those conversations, bringing together businesses
and police to discuss practical solutions and work together to address
local safety concerns.
As a Georges River Councillor, I remain fully committed to delivering
the precinct infrastructure and safety support our business owners
deserve.
